Visitors Policy

In order to protect the security of our students and staff and the learning environment at school,
parent/guardian visitors must adhere to the following guidelines: All non-district visitors must report to the front reception area, sign in, state their reason for being on campus, and receive a name badge to be worn while visiting our building. Visitors will be required to present a valid
driver’s license for picture I.D., and each visitor’s name will be processed through the database. Any person not having legitimate business will be asked to leave. This procedure helps us ensure the safety of the school environment for the children. School personnel have been instructed to stop all visitors and check for a visitor’s badge. Visitors without a badge will be escorted to the reception area.

Parents are encouraged to visit their child’s class. Please contact the teacher at least 24 hours before coming to school for a classroom visit. This enables the teacher to advise you of any schedule changes or instructional/testing situations that might prevent you from making a visit.

Visits are only permitted in accordance with District policy and with the principal’s and teacher’s approval, and such visits shall not be permitted if their duration or frequency interferes with the delivery of instruction or disrupts the normal school environment. (A visit of no more than 15-30 minutes is suggested.) Parents may suggest a date and time for the classroom visit. The teacher has the prerogative to accept the suggested date and time or request another date because of
possible interference with classroom activities. Student visitors from other campuses are not permitted without the principal’s knowledge and permission. This includes visits during lunch, dismissal times and school parties.

When in the instructional area, parents should not attempt to talk with the teachers. The teacher’s first obligation is to all of the students in their charge. If you have a concern, make an ppointment to speak with the teacher. Parents needing to meet with an administrator must make an appointment. Every effort will be made to schedule a meeting within 24 hours.

Parents needing to drop off lunch money, or school materials are asked to write their child’s name on these articles and leave them at the front reception area.
